Super Spark Deadline Extended!

The Super Spark application deadline has been extended to Friday, June 10th. Now you have an extra week to line up your collaborators, build your budget, and prepare your request for up to $50,000 in Super Spark funding.

DEADLINE EXTENDED: Enter the 2011 Design, Art and Technology Awards and the Pittsburgh-to-Hollywood Award before March 15, 2011

There is still time to enter the 2011 Design, Art and Technology Awards & New Media Exhibition – and the Pittsburgh-to-Hollywood Awards!


Are you a company or individual working at the intersection of Art + Technology? If so, the Pittsburgh Technology Council would like to honor your work at the 2011 Design, Art and Technology (DATA) Awards, hosted this year by Lyn Heward, the Creative Director of Cirque du Soleil at the Pittsburgh Opera.

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES: EXTENDED TO MARCH 15, 2011The DATA Awards are now accepting entries from artists and technologists in the following SIX categories:
(Applicants may apply to more than one category)1. The Maker Award:
The company or individual who has created the most creative and innovative marketplace design. Including, but not limited to, product design, industrial design, interface or related applications.

2. The Icon Award:
The company or individual who has used emerging technologies to create visibility through innovative user experiences. Including but not limited to web and mobile applications, video, flash or any other new media marketing strategies.

3. The Joy Stick Award:
The company or individual who has created the most compelling electronic game. Including but not limited to video games, animation, edutainment or gaming crossover technology.

4. The Art + Technology Award:
The company or individual who has created the most innovative work of art incorporating technology or technology-themed content. Finalists in this category will be invited to participate in the New Media Exhibition that accompanies the awards ceremony, and to show their work at an exhibition at the 15 Minutes Gallery in 2011/12. All media will be considered, including visual arts, music, video, sculpture, etc.

5. THE CRIB (Creative Rooms in Business) Award:
Pittsburgh’s most creative workplace. This award celebrates creative work environments, incorporating non-traditional design, unique methods of company community, artwork or space that encourages creativity.

6. GRAND PRIZE: The Pittsburgh-to-Hollywood Awards:
The region’s top entertainment technology companies are going to Hollywood! As part of the Pittsburgh Entertainment Technology (PET) Project, several of the region’s most creative tech companies will be awarded an opportunity to pitch their work to leading film industry professionals on the West Coast in July 2011. This trade mission will include the opportunity to showcase regionally-created products that interface with the national film industry – including, but not limited to, gaming, product design, mobile applications, robotics, new media advertising, merchandising, web and video. For more information, visit www.pghentertainmenttech.org.

All DATA Awards finalists will receive:

  • The opportunity to win a 2011 DATA Award, announced during the 2011 Awards Ceremony on April 28, 2011.
