SCRAP

We are proud to announce that artist, Greg Witt, is the first SCRAP artist to go into orbit around this year’s line up of Pittsburgh festivals. See his work on display a Pittsburgh Filmmakers for the duration of the festival.

The Steel City Robotic Art Project (SCRAP) is a nascent festival centered around robotic art in Pittsburgh, PA. For 2009/2010 it takes its first incarnation – SCRAP Satellites – a festival formed from a constellation of mini-festivals each in orbit around a larger Pittsburgh festival.

The inaugural SCRAP Satellite will be a sculpture by Gregory Witt on display at Pittsburgh Filmmakers during the opening event of the Three Rivers Film Festival.

Each SCRAP Satellite will include an installation or sculpture by at least one Pittsburgh-based robotics artists but may also include small events such as workshops and talks. Look for more SCRAP satellites at upcoming festivals including: First Night, Gallery Crawls, GA/GI Fest and DATA, Pittsburgh’s Design, Art and Technology Awards and Exhibition this summer.

SCRAP is supported by the Pittsburgh Technology Council’s Art + Technology Initiative.
