Russell Crowe Brings Some Hollywood Art + Tech to the Pittsburgh Technology Council

Another Australian hits the PTC. This past weekend, LionsGate kicked-off the filming of its 2010 release “The Next Three Days” — set and filmed here in Pittsburgh. The film’s star, Russell Crowe, and a legion of directors, extras, set designers, film crews and caterers descended upon Technology Drive on Friday (in an apropos torrential downpour) to shoot several scenes in the Council’s parking lot, and various locations along the Tech park. More pictures here.

Hopping between a black Cadillac Escalade (equipped with several mountain bikes) and a black Toyota Prius (his character’s movie car), Crowe was friendly, yet expectedly aloof, while smoking Winstons between takes. But Crowe is not the only big name in town this month. He is joined by the likes of Jake Gyllenhal and Denzel Washington, who are  shooting two separate movies here. 1. I didn’t know he was coming to Pittsburgh. Makes me wish I would have saved the picture of the minivan license plate I took on the turnpike that said RslCrw. LOL
